In The News: Taxes, Higher Fuel Costs Lead To Increase In Airfares
A report in the Chicago Sun-Times notes that higher taxes and fuel costs are helping push up airfares for summer travel.
“People, I think, are going to be shocked by how much higher some fares are,” said Airfarewatchdog.com President George Hobica. “We’re seeing fares that we haven’t seen in years.
“Part of that’s taxes,” Hobica said. “The airports keep on adding taxes. Governments are adding taxes.”
